Mammography Tech / 20hrs/wk / Days
GENERAL
Summary:
Under the direction of a Radiologist, performs Radiologic breast imaging procedures for the evaluation of pathological entities as ordered by a physician.
Performs related functions according to department protocols.
Utilizes independent judgment in determining appropriate radiographic techniques, positioning, and safety practices.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
oExplains examination procedure to patients and prepares patient for the examination.
Reviews clinical data on requisition and performs appropriate examination.
oObtains additional information about the patient medical history as necessary.
oPrepares procedure room and regularly replenishes stock such as linen and related supplies.
Analyzes anatomical structure of patient, sets up equipment and performs the Radiologic procedure.
oManually controls the equipment to obtain the proper diagnostic information from the area of the body being studied.
oUtilizes patient immobilization as needed.
oPerforms all imaging procedures by demonstrating the principles of radiation protection:
may involve shielding of patients, selection of appropriate equipment settings to reduction dose, using other ALARA techniques, etc.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
oHigh School Diploma or G.

equivalent is required oMust be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) and the advanced registry in Mammography, ARRT (M) (or registry eligible) oIf registry eligible, registry must be obtained within 12 months of date of hire oFailure to obtain registry within the designated time-frame will result in termination of the Mammography Tech position oMust maintain the required hours of continued medical education oMust meet all Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) criteria, as well as other regulatory agencies Recommended Skills Clinical Works Health Physics Imaging Medical Education Quality Management Radiology Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
